Hello everyone! Welcome to my very first experience with creating my very first "blog".   I will be reading RULES by Cynthia Lord and looking forward to sharing my thoughts on the following:

  • Summarizer-summarize reading
  • Director-Develop questions and lead the discussion
  • Connector-Find connections between you and the book, the book and the world
  • Illustrator-draw or find pictures related to the reading
  • Travel Tracer-carefully track the action in words or diagrams
  • Vocabulary Enricher- Identify new words with special meaning
  • Literary Luminary- highlight special sections (like a close read)
  • Researcher- Dig up/discover background information that is relevant to the reading (not always possible)
I look forward to hearing your ideas as well and sharing information throughout the process.  As I recently read by a classmate, "You can learn to write.  You learn to read better by writing.  Reading and writing work together to improve your ability to think!"

Readily reading,

Cindy

  1. I think you meant to post, “You learn to write better by reading. You learn to read better by writing. Reading and writing work together to improve your ability to think!”

  2. Hi SaraH. I understood it as creating a plan which is what I was told, therefore, maybe I have misinterpreted as a "lesson plan". I'm really trying my best to make the best of what is to be done here. If these are not right, I will fix them if need be, or going forward with those remaining. Can I say, "Ugh. Sigh." Oh wait, I already did. Learning as I go and trying to not get frustrated. This is why I tend to ask so many questions because I do not have the background many of you do as educators within a classroom. If this is a mistake, then "lesson" learned. Thank you for your feedback.

    1. No worries. No need to re-do anything. Just make your posts tomorrow as if you are the student. You still have one more post to make as the connector I think, if you'd like (for the first 5 chapters).

You can feel free to comment on any of the posts I made on my blog. I made one for each category to make it easier to post responses. They don't need to meet the same criteria as responses for the Discussion Board. Whatever comes to mind that you think will help move discussion along or provoke thought.

You are doing great. I was able to respond to one of your posts, making a connection anyway. Please do not be frustrated. This is a safe place to learn. I am still trying to figure out how to fix the text and size images in my blog. I am learning too!
